After two decades of service calls across North Central Florida, the same handful of failures account for most AC repairs. Knowing them helps you spot a fair diagnosis.
The usual five
1) Failed capacitors — a common, inexpensive fix that stops the motor from starting. 2) Clogged condensate drains — they trip the safety switch and shut the system off; easy to clear. 3) Refrigerant leaks — these need finding and sealing, not just a recharge. 4) Worn contactors — the electrical switch that wears out. 5) Fan motor failures.
The pattern
Notice that the cheap, common repairs (capacitor, drain, contactor) are the ones we see most, while the expensive ones (compressor, full leak repair) are rarer. A trustworthy shop fixes the small thing when the small thing is the problem.
